It is understood that Shihezi is an important commercial cotton production base in Xinjiang. It produces 350 thousand tons of fine quality cotton, medium and long staple cotton and colored cotton annually.

In recent years, according to the idea of "giving full play to the advantages of resources and building a cotton textile industrial base in the central and western regions", the city has introduced a number of well-known textile enterprises at home and abroad, such as Zhejiang's Xiong Feng, Jiangsu Huafang, Jiangsu Huafu, Saudi argillan brothers, Jiahe and Jiahe. The scale has reached 1 million 500 thousand spindles, 21 thousand spun airstreams and 800 looms.

With the entry of Ruyi group in Shandong, Shihezi has realized the complete textile industrial chain from cotton to clothing, and has become the best and largest scale cotton textile industrial base in the Midwest of China.
