China And South Korea Reach Ship Plate Delivery Price In January Next Year
China's Baosteel and other big steel mills have reached an agreement with the Korean shipbuilding company. The ship plate price for January 2009 was $840 / ton (C&F). It is said that the price of the two class ship plate reached by other steel mills and Korea is 750 USD / ton (C&F). That is, the first class ship plate price is 800 US dollars / ton (FOB), and the two class ship plate price is 700 US dollars / ton (FOB).
The 4 quarter shipbuilding export price reached by China's steel mills before Korea reached 1200 US dollars / ton (C&F) or higher, and with the decline in international steel prices, Korean customers asked China to cut prices. China then lowered its December shipments to 900 US dollars / ton and US $800 / ton (C&F).
If this price is true, the export price will be reduced by 50 US dollars / ton in January next year, which will drop by nearly 400 US dollars / ton compared with the 4 quarter initial shipment price.
At the same time, Korean shipbuilders will negotiate with Japan's major steel mills on the delivery price from April 2009 to March 2010. Based on the January shipments that have been reached with China's steel mills, Korean customers will seek Japanese steel mills to cut shipments in 4-9 months next year, and the price of new contract negotiations will also be lowered.
