According to data from SMI-ATI of Italy textile and Garment Association, Italy's yarn industry is facing a difficult situation.

Many manufacturers believe that they will face the adverse situation of the whole 2008, especially the market forecast that the US dollar will continue to depreciate, and the impact on them will be intensified.

Statistics in the first 4 months of 2008 showed that the unfavorable situation in the yarn industry continued to intensify.

From January to April, the number of wool and cotton products decreased by 7.6% and 16.8% respectively.

Exports also showed a downward trend, which was 5.7% lower than that in 2007.

At the beginning of this year, the demand of Hongkong's main yarn export markets, including the United States, Spain and China's Italy, was on the decline.
